1st January 2012 (New Year’s Day) is the Feast of Mary Mother of God, and the World Day of Peace.  Chinese Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church at 2:15 p.m.  Please spread the word and we look forward to your participation.

23rd January 2012 is the Chinese New Year’s Day.  We wish everyone a happy Chinese New Year full of blessings.  The LCCC will, in the Chinese Mass on 29th January 2012, will pay special respect to our ancestors.

On 26/12/2011, Boxing Day, our Chinese Catholic community held a Mass in Mandarin at Our Lady of the Assumption & St. Gregory Church, Warwick Street, London.  Fr. Ari and Fr. Carlo celebrated Mass with our brothers and sisters who came from in and around Greater London despite the tube strike.  It was attended by 70 members with great Christmas spirit and we took this occasion to raise funds for the flood victims in Philippines.  After Mass, we enjoyed a bring-a-dish tea party at the basement room.

On 18/12/2011, Bishop Alan Hopes and Fr. David Irwin from the Diocese of Westminster paid a pastoral visit to the Chinese Chaplaincy at London Chinese Catholic Centre based at St. Patrick’s Cattholic Church, Soho square.

Bishop Hopes and Fr. Irwin con-celebrated the 2:15 Sunday Mass with 2 other priests.  At the end of Mass, Bishop Hopes greeted us, saying Merry Christmas and Happy New year in Chinese.

After Mass, our Brothers and sisters held a reception in honour of our guests, with bring-a dish-to-share party. During the reception, Bishop Hopes and other priests talked to our members and had photos taken with us. Our members felt their morale was boosted and faith strengthened by Bishop Hopes’ pastoral visit.

This year there will not be Chinese Masses for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Please attend Mass at your local parish.

On 26/12/2011 at 2:00p.m., Fr Ari will say Mass in Mandarin, at Our Lady of Assumption & St. Gregory Church, Warwick Street, Westminster, London W1B 5NB (map).  Fr Ari will be available from 1:00 p.m. to hear Confession. Please join us at the Mass, and the bring-and-share refreshment after.  As there may be a strike by London Underground on the day, please check travel news before you set off.

On New Year’s Day 2012, we will have a Chinese Mass at 2:15p.m. at St.Patrick’s Church. Please spread the word and join us if you can.

On Sunday 11/12/11, an annual International Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church at 6pm in honour of the feast of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception.  It was attended by more than 300 people belonging to the different chaplancies based at St. Patrick’s, i.e. the Brazilians, the Latin Americans, the Chinese and the English speaking parishioners.   Among those were 50 of our Chinese brothers and sisters who participated in this beautiful and solemn celebration.  After Mass, at around 7pm, a beautifully adorned statue of Our Lady was blessed and then the procession of this statue started from St. Patrick’s, through the streets of Soho and Chinatown, to the Church of Notre Dame de France (French Church). Four of our Chinese brothers were so honoured to be asked to carry Our Lady’s statue in this procession.

After the statue’s arrival at the French Church, we all joined in prayers and hymns to Our Lady.  Despite the heavy downpour during the procession, every participant was very enthusiatic in singing hymns in his or her own language, distributing leaflets to the pedestrians and taking photographs.  What a marvellous opportunity for us to witness our faith to the unbelieving world!

Special Notice

On 11/12/2011 the 2:15p.m. Chinese Mass will be held in the basement tearoom at St Patrick’s Church.

You are all cordially invited to attend the meeting at which the committee’s report will be presented. This report deals with some issues which we are presently encountering. We need your valuable opinions about our future status. Please join us on this Sunday (11/Dec/2011) after Mass at St. Patrick’s basement meeting room.
